I have eaten here twice on our visits to Charters Towers and both times we were disappointed. We received our meals 30minutes after the rest of our group despite all ordering within 5min of each other. Everyone at our table had finished eating when we finally received our meals. We went there because they have gluten free options only to be told at ordering that they are all out of gluten free sauces etc. I ordered the brisket; instead of telling me they were out of the brisket so I could choose something else, they just used slices of roast beef and poured this really gross bbq sauce all over the meat. It was so sweet and smothered I couldn’t eat it. I was left hungry and disappointed. I do not recommend eating here at all. We will not be eating here again. Price per person: A$20–40 Food: 2 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3

Went here for dinner with my partner and wow wot great meals they have here. I had the beef and ale pie, which was full a flavour and the meat inside was so tender, my partner had the chicken shnitty which was also great. Thnx again The Sovereign Tavern in Charters Towers. U made 2 hungry travellers happy. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $40–60 Parking space: Plenty of parking
