Our family are Platinum members, and we were in town visiting family, so we stopped by for a few hours. Overall, the visit was fine, but unfortunately, the experience was somewhat underwhelming given the level of membership and service we typically expect. When we arrived, we were immediately asked to take our water bottles back to the car. I completely understand that this may be a corporate policy, and we were happy to comply. However, the way it was communicated felt unnecessarily abrupt, particularly since we had children with us and Colorado was experiencing a heat advisory. A simple, friendly explanation would have made the interaction feel very different. Once we were seated, our server was kind and actually apologized for the initial interaction. During our conversation, the server also made some comments about the general manager and management style that were a little surprising to hear as a guest. While I certainly don’t want to judge an organization based on one employee’s comments, it did contribute to an overall impression that the focus was more on business than on creating a welcoming guest experience. There were no major issues during our visit, but the experience simply didn’t feel as warm or welcoming as we would have hoped. As Platinum members, we value the experiences we have with the organization and would love to see a greater emphasis on hospitality and how guests are greeted and treated from the moment they arrive. Overall, just a fairly average experience this time around. Hopefully our next visit will better reflect the level of service we have come to expect. Topgolf was a fun experience, and I can absolutely see why people enjoy it. The atmosphere is great, the technology works well, and it’s an easy way to spend time with friends. That said, I left feeling like the value didn’t quite match the price. At around $70 an hour, the pace of play can make it feel like you’re not getting as much golf as you’d expect. For not much more money, I could spend several hours on a local course with friends, so the value comparison is hard to ignore. My biggest frustration wasn’t the cost though. It was the constant push to use the app for ordering food and drinks. I don’t want another app on my phone, I don’t want to hand over more personal information, and not everyone has a charged phone or even wants to order that way. One employee mentioned the goal is to rely more on the app and reduce front-of-house staff. If that’s the direction, I think it’s a mistake. The people are part of what makes going out enjoyable. A quick conversation with a server, someone checking in, or simply ordering from a person instead of a screen adds to the experience. If the goal becomes replacing hospitality with an app, Topgolf starts losing what separates it from staying home with a simulator. I’d gladly return for the fun atmosphere, but I hope they continue investing in people just as much as technology. Price per person: $80–90 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
