My friend and I had lunch at the DBU restaurant, VOC Cafe on 13th April 2026, where we both ordered chicken lamprais—something we hadn’t enjoyed in several years at this restaurant. Unfortunately, we were genuinely horrified by the quality. What was served was simply plain white rice with accompaniments. The rice was supposedly keeri samba, but it was unusually large-grained and unlike anything I’ve ever seen or known as keeri samba. It was also completely tasteless. Despite our disappointment, we ate it because it was late and we were hungry. DBU, which once had a great reputation for its lamprais, seems to have dropped its standards beyond imagination. We were both bitterly disappointed and felt that the Rs. 1666.00 (approx.) paid per packet was an utter waste. When I mentioned to the waiter that this was not the lamprais we had previously enjoyed at DBU, his curt response was: “This is the lamprais we serve.” Due to my disappointment, I even took a photo of my half-eaten packet to show others exactly what I’m referring to. This will certainly be our last visit to VOC Cafe for lamprais. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: Rs 2,000–3,000 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2
