An Okinawa izakaya with a bar-like atmosphere. It's cheap for the location and of course delicious. It was a shame that a noisy customer came in midway through, but it's a comfortable restaurant. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

*Closed for lunch August 7, 2017 Okinawan cuisine dining bar “ondo” located on Roppongi Stars and Stripes Street It used to be a members only shop, so there is an intercom on the wall. I put my shoes in the shoe rack and entered the store. Beppin-san will show you to your seat. A stereotypical Okinawan restaurant would serve bitter gourd champuru and taco rice to the background music of Okinawan folk songs, but "ondo" does not have any of these. The sophisticated space with chic background music is wonderful. The lunch menu includes soki soba set meals and onipo (rice ball pork and egg). “Ryuzu Somen & Sunui Two-Color Chilled Noodles” 1,200 yen Summer limited menu. Includes one rice bowl, two small bowls, and a drink. I chose fried bitter gourd for Onipou, Jimami tofu and Blue Seal for the small dish, and Sanpin tea for the drink. First, Jimami tofu is served. It is chewier than regular Jimami tofu and has a rich peanut flavor. There are ginger and perilla leaves as condiments, but these are extra. The main dish is two-colored chilled noodles made with Ryuzu somen and Kumejima's Sunui (mozuku). Ryuzu somen is hand-rolled somen from Okinawa. When I tried it, I found it to be chewy, firm and delicious. Sunui is mozuku itself and is served with mentsuyu. This one is also thick, has a firm texture, and has plenty of flavor. In contrast to the sophisticated two-color chilled noodles, the onipo feels a bit junky due to the mayo in it, but in one bite you can taste the sweetness of the tamagoyaki, the bitterness of the fried bitter melon, and the saltyness of the pork all at once. Pretty good. The after-dinner Blue Seal changes daily, and on this day it was the standard flavor, Mango Tango. Blue Seal also has a completely different impression when served in a proper container. After paying, I was happy to receive a souvenir from Chinsukou, Blue Seal Candy, Suppaiman, etc. October 18, 2017 October 17th was Okinawa Soba Day, so I went to Okinawa dining bar "ondo" for the first time in a while. I put my shoes in the shoe rack and entered the store. The usual Beppin-san showed me to my seat. There were no customers in front of me when I entered the store after 1:30 p.m. The spacious chic counter seats are reserved for private use. “Soki soba set meal” 1,000 yen Comes with 2 small bowls of your choice and a drink. The small bowls are Blue Seal and Sata Andagi. For the drink, I chose Sanpin tea. The soki soba you're looking for is faithful to the basics, with a big soki topped with two pieces of kamaboko and green onions. I'm glad it doesn't contain red ginger, which I personally dislike. The soup has a very strong dashi stock, has a sophisticated and high quality taste, and the noodles go smoothly. Also worth mentioning is the big Soki. When you hold it with chopsticks, the bones come off easily and the meat is tender. It has a strong sweet and salty flavor, and is also wonderfully large enough to be eaten. The two small dishes after the meal were the autumn-like purple sweet potato Blue Seal and Sata Andagi. The sata andagi is freshly fried and crispy. It's good that it's not too sweet and not heavy. The red sweet potato Blue Seal is accented with a little bit of white sesame, making it even more delicious. December 3, 2017 “Onipou set meal” 1,200 yen Comes with 2 small bowls of your choice, asa soup, and a drink. Choose ``Pork Egg'' and ``Shima Tofu Deep-Fried Tofu & Oil Miso'' from 8 types of Onipou (rice ball pork egg). The basic form of Okinawan rice balls, ``Pork Tamago,'' is made by sandwiching Spam and a soft-boiled fried egg and seasoning with additive-free mayonnaise. The saltiness of the Spam and the softness of the soft-boiled egg are in perfect harmony and delicious. “Fried Island Tofu & Abura Miso” is a sandwich of spam and deep-fried island tofu, seasoned with Okinawa’s classic abura miso. The combination of plump island tofu and oily miso is extremely delicious! The small bowl of Sunui is made from rare natural mozuku from Kumejima. The texture is thicker and more pleasant than regular mozuku. It has a nice mellow flavor with less acidity, and is irresistible for mozuku lovers. After dinner, I had Ube (Red Yam) with Blue Seal Ice Cream. When I come to Ondo, I always choose Blue Seal ice cream, and Ube is my favorite flavor because it is stickier than Beniimo. A rice ball set meal of 1,200 yen may seem expensive, but I'm personally satisfied with the quality of each item and the chic and sophisticated atmosphere of the restaurant.
