If you are a weeb, don't bother reading on: My experience at this restaurant was very disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming. The staff kept staring at us, and their body language made it quite clear we weren’t welcome. It wasn’t like anything negative wsd explicitly said, but the way we were looked at and treated made us feel uncomfortable and out of place. Unfortunately, this lines up with the kind of treatment some Japanese restaurants are (increasingly) known for, where non-Japanese or non-white patrons aren’t welcomed. It is how they signal their displeasure at servicing certain type of people, unfortunately I wasn't born Caucasian or Japanese, and I guess I kinda deserve it? Note: the rest of the patrons are all locals. As for the food, the pizza was really really below average. I don't know where all the raving reviews are coming from, it's shockingly disappointing. I think it is on par with saizeriya. They serve a special house pour, so I guess the draft beer is the only thing that's worth it. What capped an upsetting experience was seeing one of their staff preparing fish on the floor , which is highly unhygienic and quite shocking to say the least. Overall, it was a very unpleasant experience and not somewhere I would return to. There are still many places in East Hokkaido who are genuinely kind and welcoming of non-white and Japanese customers but this restaurant is not one of those. If you’re those typical travelers who buy into superficialities, feel free to patronize this place. The above is my subjective experience. That's just how I felt from my experience. Feel free to brush it off :) > Ps: my experience is that this issue is more prevalent in monbetsu perhaps because there is a large number of foreign laborers living in this city for agricultural industry...
