Ristorante Fani is the kind of place that signals its intentions early. The menu reads like something that was written with actual curiosity behind it. Creative, polished, with enough unusual combinations to make you lean in before the first course has even arrived. You know going in that this is not just dinner. It's a whole thing. I had the "Tra terra e mare" tasting menu, and the evening held up well across its length. The undisputed highlight was the Tortelli Mantovani. Rich, balanced, elegant without being precious. The kind of dish where every element is pulling in the same direction and nothing is there just to look interesting on the plate. If the whole menu had hit that level consistently it would have been a different kind of evening. Some courses were more cerebral than immediately satisfying. The pigeon was well executed but didn't quite give me that moment. The Gorgonzola ice cream was memorable in the way that makes you tell someone about it later. Genuinely creative, genuinely surprising but not something I personally loved in the eating of it. That's the honest reality of tasting menus though: not every dish needs to be your favorite. It just needs to make you react. This one did, throughout. The dessert was the most fun part of the whole evening. The Mona Lisa concept landed exactly right. Playful, considered, the kind of finish that makes you smile rather than just feel full. Service was professional and friendly. The only thing I'd mention is that it could occasionally feel a touch intense. Glasses refilled before you'd really had a chance to register the sip, plates removed almost before you'd confirmed you were done. Never unpleasant, just slightly ahead of my preferred rhythm. Minor thing. The ending though. The chef came out personally to thank the table, and we left with 500g of homemade pasta. That kind of gesture doesn't need to happen, which is exactly why it leaves such a good impression when it does. Fani is a strong evening. Not every course will hit equally, but the overall experience is the kind you think about afterwards. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
