My family and I were looking for a new place to try out, so we stopped by for an early lunch. Brandy, our waitress, was incredible! She was so attentive and quick! We decided to share a plate of jerk chicken wings to start; all of our food came out fast, even though they were quite busy! My 12 year old daughter ordered from the kid's menu and wowzers, her platter of popcorn shrimp and sweet potato fries was massive for $4.99! My husband ordered the flounder po boy, it too, was an enormous serving! The sweet potato fries (like father, like daughter) could have been crisper and not as soggy. I odered the grilled shrimp salad, which, included the salad bar. The bowls that served that bar were very small, so I piled on the salad mix, hard boiled eggs, cubed ham, cheese, BIG chunks of cucumber and tomato, beets, red onion and banana peppers. My large shrimp came out on the side and was perfectly cooked; the order of fried okra was divine! I thoroughly enjoyed the vast amount of homemade ranch dressing that was provided as well (we are a ranch loving family)! In fact, all their sauces seemed to be homemade! The cocktail sauce had a nice bite of horseradish, the buffalo sauce was outstanding too! For a smaller diner, they offer a lot and there seemed to be many returning customers that the staff knew quite well. M&J is a little restraunt gem! From their amazing and sweet servers to the incredibly sized dishes, no one leaves feeling like a stranger, but instead, a well taken care of family feeling. I would definitely visit again! First visit to M&J. Had scrambled eggs with cheese, fried bologna, grits, and wheat toast. Food and service were good, and prices reasonable. Will likely visit again to try lunch/dinner options.
