Yikes that was underwhelming. Live in Texas, looking at moving to the area. First Carolina BBQ experience, will try and not judge the area on this visit and this plate. The pork with the sweet bbq sauce was a solid B- , the slaw a C+. The cornbread was a brick and not worth eating. The chips were cold and half of them were soggy. We have chains in Texas that blow this out of the water. Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

We'll be honest — Eastern NC whole hog is a different style from Texas BBQ, and we know that comparison doesn't always go in our favor depending on what you're used to. Brisket dry, cornbread was dense and flat with no seasoning. Mac and cheese was ok, turkey was ok,pork ok, staff was very friendly but I wouldn't go out of my way to return ! Price per person: $20–30

Sam Jones BBQ is hands down the best barbecue in Raleigh. Every meal I’ve had here has been outstanding, and the quality is consistently excellent. If you’re trying it for the first time, here’s a pro tip: mix the slaw into the chopped pork barbecue. The combination of flavors and textures is incredible and takes an already amazing sandwich to the next level. And don’t skip the mac and cheese—it’s absolutely to die for. Creamy, flavorful, and the perfect side to go with the barbecue. If you still have room for dessert, the chocolate éclair is incredible. It’s the perfect way to finish off an amazing meal. On top of the incredible food, the service is always friendly, attentive, and welcoming. It’s the kind of place you find yourself coming back to again and again. If you’re looking for authentic North Carolina barbecue, Sam Jones BBQ is a must-visit. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $20–30 Parking space: Somewhat difficult to find parking

Wow, thank you for this — we'll take "best barbecue in Raleigh" any day! The slaw-in-the-pork tip is a move our regulars know well, glad to see it getting passed on to first-timers.
