This was an amazing birthday dinner for my dad, who generally loves New Orleans / Creole food. That's why we chose it. Nathan was a terrific server - he was patient, kind and made sure that our food came out in a perfectly timed way - drinks first, then the apps, then the middle course, then entrees, the desserts. All in the right amount of time between courses. We ordered a gin martini (custom - Hendricks, olives), one of the cocktails - the Kentucky Colonel, similar to an Old Fashioned, and a glass of one of the specials, an orange wine. They came out all at the same time, and my parents who are quite picky, enjoyed their martini and cocktail respectively. A second martini was ordered. For appetizers/raw bar, we got the 6 oysters, dealer's choice, which was great. The smoked salmon and fish dip were terrific, but the crackers were really amazing. Maybe brushed with an oil or butter, which made the dip and smoked salmon decadent. The oysters were also quite good. You must also order the crab claws. Trust us, so flavorful, easy to eat, so freaking good. For the middle course, we got the crawfish hushpuppies, the gumbo and the frog legs. My dad ate the gumbo, which he loved, but it is very much like a soup and a specific taste. If you are worried about frog legs, trust us - it tastes like chicken and the breading is to die for. Treat it like tender chicken legs. And the hushpuppies were great but not a bit of crawfish to be tasted in them. That's fine - just market them as regular hushpuppies! People will love them when they match expectations. Please order the frog legs, they will change your life! For the entrees, we did two orders of the BBQ shrimp to be shared between 3 people - which was enough at that point. it almost tasted low key like Thai food, except you got sopping bread to sop up all the curry. It was excellent. We could not recommend more. For dessert, the beignets. Light, fluffy. warm, served with the perfect sauce. Again, trust us. You will leave happy, full, and comforted by the vibes and service at this wonderful restaurant. We would give 10 stars if we could. Also worth mentioning: the bill - two martinis, one glass of wine, one cocktail, plus all of the aforementioned dishes - came to $300 even. We tipped 25% on that. It was worth it. Thank you Nathan for terrific and attentive and service at a great place worth visiting, St. Roch. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $90–100

I finally made my way to St. Roch Fine Oysters + Bar and babyyyy… the atmosphere walked in before I did. The lighting, the energy, the design — everything felt intentional. Upscale without being pretentious. One of those places where you instantly sit a little straighter in your chair and start planning what dessert might look like before the appetizers even hit the table. Speaking of appetizers… those oysters came out FAST. Fresh, cold, and beautifully prepared. And let me tell y’all something I wasn’t expecting — the bite served on the crackers? Unique in the best way. It was one of those small touches that quietly lets you know the kitchen actually cares about the experience. Service was absolutely top tier. Friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and the kind of hospitality that makes you feel welcomed instead of just served. Now onto the food. I rated it 4 stars overall, but truthfully it was more of a 4.5 experience for me. The red beans and rice definitely carried that New Orleans-inspired flavor profile with a nice little kick to it that I appreciated. You could tell the restaurant stays true to its NOLA inspiration. My only critique was that the pork had been removed from the dish without another protein added in its place, so it felt like it was missing just a little balance. Now let’s discuss my guests… because the beef dish apparently didn’t come to play. There were no leftovers, no to-go box, no “I’ll save this for later.” Just clean plates and silence at the table — and honestly, that tells you everything you need to know. Overall, this is absolutely a spot worth trying. Great atmosphere, excellent service, flavorful food, and a vibe that makes you want to linger awhile. Food: .5. Service:.
