Tides Restaurant at Marino Beach Colombo is a good place for a proper hotel dining experience with a nice view of the Indian Ocean. The restaurant is spacious, comfortable and usually has a good crowd. There is a good variety of food, including Sri Lankan and international dishes. Both buffet and à la carte options are available, so you have different choices depending on what you prefer. The food selection is quite good, with starters, main dishes, desserts and different drinks available. One thing I noticed is that there are many food promotions going on on different days, which makes it worth checking what promotion is available before visiting. Because of these promotions and the food options, many guests come here, especially during busy meal times. The ocean view adds a nice touch to the dining experience, and the restaurant is suitable for families, couples, friends and hotel guests. Parking and valet service are also convenient. Overall, Tides is a good option if you are looking for a comfortable restaurant with a good food selection, sea view and regular promotions. We had a great time at the lunch buffet at Tides Restaurant, Marino Beach Hotel, a few months ago. It's a really good buffet with lots of variety for the price, so it's a great deal overall. Everything was super tasty, and they had a good selection that I really liked. The desserts had a lovely range of options and every single one was delicious. The staff were also super attentive and nice, which made the experience even better. You can eat inside with AC or outside with a sea view. Overall, it was a satisfying and enjoyable lunch buffet that I'd totally recommend. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: Rs 4,000–5,000 Recommended dishes: Desert Buffet

Tides certainly lived up to the reputation of Damro. We headed there on a Satuday (2026 June) for lunch and I strongly suggest early reservation. You can either sit inside in the A/C area, or on the terrace (not recommended during rain). At 4700pp, it was a bargain considering the large spread they have. There were four soup servings, and a salad and appetiser bar of a wide variety of flavours. There was a carvery with a selection of mutton and chicken. A pasta actoin station was available as well. The appetisers had such an impression I barely had room for the main course. The main course had a lot of options including two types of rice and one noodle offering. There were multiple meat and fish options in addition to the curries. They also had a Sri Lankan corner probabaly for the foreigners. We like the prawn curry. Being a lunch buffet, there were no beverage options, but we could pick something off the menu. With my sweet tooth, I highly recommend their "Minty Orange". The dessert section was massive and included fresh fruits. I couldn't catch the cheesecake, and my wife recommended another cake which also had run out when I was going for the dessert. I loved the bread pudding which felt succulent and melted in my mouth. We'd like to give a shout-out to Mr Pavan of the waiting staff who did a stellar job assisting us.
